July 9 – Lake Olathe Nature Playground

We’ll meet (rain or shine)* at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Lake Olathe Nature Playground. At the time of publishing this page, the playground is located at 13819 Ward Cliff Dr., Olathe, KS 66061 on Google maps, but the actual address is 221 S. Beaver Shelter Lane, Olathe, KS 66061. It is on the loop drive on the north side of the park near Beaver Shelter, not in the middle of the park. More information about the park including a map can be found on the City of Olathe Parks & Recreation website. Please park in the Beaver Shelter parking area and check in near the blue slide/climbing tower. We will begin with play at the playground, then take a brief hike on the trail to a lookout point.

Our family will likely bring a picnic to enjoy at the shelter and then head over to the park’s free spray ground afterward. Please bring your lunch and join us! You may also want to bring swimsuits, towels, and water shoes for the spray ground.

Be sure to wear appropriate clothing, bring water, and pack anything else that might help you and your family have a good time (snacks, first aid kit, sunscreen, bug spray, sketchbook, camera, change of clothes, rain gear, binoculars, boots, magnifying glass, etc.). Check the What to Bring page for further information.

*Please check our Facebook page for the latest updates, especially in case of dangerous weather conditions. Any required cancellations or changes will be posted there.
